laura + harry

A beautiful terrace, picturesque streets and twinkly fairy lights in the trees.

Laura & Harry married on a beautiful terrace of an ancient tower. The terrace enjoys 360 degree views of the pastel palazzo’s, hilltop village of Castellabate and the sea. The wedding took place in early June at 5pm. Laura walked from her boutique hotel to the Tower, down a little lane, which is basked in natural light, serenaded by the guitar and mandolin and followed by her bridesmaids. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a Prosecco accompanied by the guitar and mandolin and they enjoyed Italian Classics, such as “That’s Amore” and “O Sole Mio”. As a surprise for everyone, the couple arranged for the local ice-cream man, Baffo, to arrive with Gelato for everyone.

I will always remember how beautiful Laura’s flowers were and her face when she first saw them. She had sent so many images to me before the wedding, and the florist, Veronica, delivered the flowers of her dreams. A massive Grazie Mille to Chris Barber Photography for these amazing images.

grazie julie

Thank you My Secret Italy for creating this beautiful time

I will never forget the first conversation I had with Julie, she is so relaxed and friendly even talking to her for the first time is like talking to an old friend. She asked me what we wanted from our wedding, we exchanged a few pictures for ideas and talked rough budgets. Julie showed me a picture of a wedding reception at a restaurant called ‘Il Calesse’ and instantly I fell in love. I couldn’t have imagined a better place for us! It was so beautiful – stunning views & trees dotted round the rustic alfresco restaurant. I showed it to Harry and he loved it too and that was the decision made!

I must have changed my mind on the flowers and styling of the wedding a number of times, often came up with new ideas, and each time Julie just took it in her stride. We even made a massive decision in changing our ceremony venue a couple of months before the wedding and Julie was so lovely about it, she just sorted it (originally we were having the ceremony on the beach but then we opted for Torre Perroti as we felt this venue suited us better). Emillie was also amazing and really easy to get hold of whenever I needed anything.

We started planning the wedding in August 2016 when we got engaged and for the first few months everything was really chilled. Julie helped our guests with flights and accommodation and let people know when different airlines released flights in around October time. Things really started to get going in January 2017 – that was when we needed to start making decisions about flowers, styling etc. As I previously said, Julie was great with this and really patient. For us, the wedding still seemed to be ages away, but then all of a sudden it was May and it was nearly here! I arrived in Santa Maria with my bridesmaids 5 days before the wedding, and guests started arriving on different days after.

As soon as I arrived in Santa Maria, I was amazed. It was so beautiful. You can look at thousands of pictures of a place and have an idea in your head of what it’s going to be like but nothing will prepare you for when you are actually there. This is also where I can’t even begin to thank Julie and Emillie enough… the care and attention they give to you and your guests during the time you are in Santa Maria is UNBELIEVEABLE and the way they orchestrate everything on the day of the wedding is so impressive, everything just goes so smoothly and you don’t have to worry about a thing – apart from turning up!

Our wedding day was so perfect and amazing, it just goes so fast and I wish we could do it again. The florist did an AMAZING job with my flowers, the bridesmaids and all the decorations were gorgeous. Both Torre Perroti and Il Calesse were more magical than we could have imagined, the food was great and we had the best party dancing underneath the twinkly trees at Il Calesse. Our wedding was small, just over 35 people, and every single person had an amazing time. A lot of friends and family said it was the best wedding they’d ever been to, they loved it, and would never ever forget it. Some of us are already planning our return!! I cannot stress this enough – when you decide to have your wedding in Santa Maria with My Secret Italy, you are not just giving your friends and family a lovely day to celebrate your wedding with you, you are giving them a chance for a once in a lifetime holiday that will never be forgotten.

All of our friends and family loved Julie, she helped most of them finding accommodation and they are so grateful for the time she spent doing this. The precious time we got to spend with our nearest and dearest the days running up to, the wedding day itself, and the days after is something none of us will forget – thank you My Secret Italy for creating this beautiful time. I will miss talking to you every week Julie… I don’t know what I will do with myself!
